charity: water

internships at charity: water.
water programs internship.
charity: water plans to provide clean, safe drinking water to 100 million people in the next ten years. To do this, we’re scaling our staff, our countries of work, our international partnerships -- and we’re re-inventing charity in the process.

As one of our Water Programs interns, you'll help us manage water projects data, report to donors and publish the GPS and photos of our completed projects online. You'll work closely with our Water Programs team to help us connect our donors to their water projects.

responsibilities:
  • * Help with Water Programs admin by editing documents, researching the water sector and coordinating staff travel to the field.
  • * Evaluate and organize water project reports from our local partners. This means fact-checking and then uploading GPS and photos of our completed projects onto Google Earth.
  • * Prep and send out completed project reports for donors. Update donor records to reflect project progress.
  • * Help maintain the reporting calendar for the Water Programs staff.

requirements:
You're not only driven -- you can drive your own boat.
You're committed to solving the world water crisis and you're aware that keeping track of thousands of water projects takes a lot of hard work. You welcome the challenge. You're a self-starter and take initiative on any projects you're assigned.

You're a multitasking champion.
You can handle several projects at once and stay on top of them all. You thrive on working in a fast-paced environment. You're flexible and eager to pick up new skills.

You have the basics down pat.
You know how to best use Microsoft Word, Excel and online tools to utilize time wisely. You're familiar with mail merge processes (riveting as they are).

You're organized and diligent.
You know the devil is in the detail -- and your meticulous nature trumps the threat. You're not afraid to admit mistakes and you fix what you can right away.

You have experience to back you up.
You've managed data before and can pick up on office systems quick. You're not afraid to ask questions when you can't find the answer on your own. You're an undergrad student or a very recent one.

commitment:
You'll start in late August or early September and commit to at least one semester (four months) at the charity: water office. We'll need you for 20+ hours a week and in the office at least three days a week.

compensation:
This is an unpaid internship but a rare opportunity to gain work experience at an international non-profit with an ambitious mission. And we can work with your institution to give you academic credit for your time with us. We'll provide you transportation (Metrocard for local NYC transit). You'll have free entry to all charity: water events; you'll also have opportunities for other exclusive NYC screenings and events offered to charity: water staff.
