Last year I was introduced to charity: water through a friend/client trying to get to Nairobi. That person was Scott Harrison - founder of charity: water. When I realized what Scott's trip was for I found myself wanting to know more. I researched into the work charity: water does and soon I was captivated.

As a travel agent, I knew I could help the charity: team get the right deals when traveling. But on a personal level, I felt I could not carry on doing my job knowing that places I booked luxury holidays, were the very same places people did not have access to clean water. Scott showed me photos and videos that he had filmed which made me realize that I had to be a part of his team. Being involved with Charity has changed my life and I know with the amount of people I know we can really make a difference.

Recently, I helped Scott fly to Ethiopia, and he's found a village there called Tabia Selam, in the Tigray District.  The village currently has no clean water, and drinks from a contaminated pond.   With your help, we can change this.  With just a little bit of money from each of you, we can give this village a freshwater well and transform the community. You guys helped me a year ago making Bertie Travel a reality, now let’s do something even more amazing.

Help me put the Bertie stamp in Africa. Footage of the well’s progress will be poste on my website www.bertietravel.com when the project completes within a year.  charity: water will provide photos and GPS coordinates of the well you helped build.  Lets make everyone aware that there are people in our world that don't have clean water - something we take for granted each and every day.

why £10?

A freshwater well typically costs £1,750 - £5,000 and can serve an average of 500 people with clean water for 20 years. So, for £10, one person in Africa is provided with clean water.

what happens next?

After a well is installed, charity: water partners work directly with villagers, teaching them how to maintain and fix their well and hand pump device, while also conducting basic hygiene and sanitati on classes. learn more >
