Central African Republic

The people of the Central African Republic (CAR) face an extreme water crisis, but the lack of basic infrastructure and political instability in the country present obstacles to providing clean water.

Roughly 10% of the population is still internally displaced since the 2013 conflict. The majority of these people are women and children who have little to no access to clean water and sanitation. These conditions contribute to the low average life expectancy of only 50.7 years and the high infant mortality rate of almost 10%.
