Honduras is inextricably tied to the United States in that almost 90% of its exports come to our country. Yet it is the second poorest nation in Central America, and 65% of its population lives in poverty.

Although mining is fruitful in the mountains, the industry leaches heavy metal into major waterways -- including the country's primary drinking water source. You have to dig deep here to get to clean water, so we're installing wells and protecting water at its source.




In Rio Platano, dirty water covers everything. This makes it difficult to find water to drink or even wash your hands. But there are solutions.
