Brax and Marc - $32,941 raised so far!
80% of all disease in Africa is due to a lack of clean, safe drinking water and basic sanitation. 45,000 people will die this week because of unsafe water, and 90% will be children under 5 years old.

We are two former college roommates, Brax Cutchin and Marc Schiller, who are climbing Mt. Kilimanjaro in Tanzania to raise awareness of the drastic need for something that most Americans take for granted everyday… clean water. We plan to reach the summit of Africa’s highest mountain on World Water Day: March 22, 2008.
Tanzania is one of Africa’s poorest, and yet most peaceful countries. Brax has been to Africa twice, spending 3 months in Kenya, and one month in Tanzania teaching English in the shadow of Mt. Kilimanjaro, the tallest freestanding mountain in the world, rising 19,340 feet above the Serengeti plains.

We are asking our friends and families to help us raise $19,340—$1 per foot—enough money to bring clean water to 5,000 people in need. No amount is too small or too large. $20. $200. (Or even $2000!)

100% of the funds we raise will go towards the construction of five clean water systems. We are paying our own way to Tanzania and all of our own expenses, including guides and porters for the 7-day trek up to the top. Then we will visit each of the five sites, taking pictures and sending updates on their progress.Thank you for your help! read more >
