Our trip to Ethiopia
with charity: water was an incredibly eye-opening and authentic experience. It was extraordinary to meet and spend time with the people of Tigray and to see first-hand how clean water changes everything for these communities.
For my 30th birthday,
instead of receiving gifts
I encouraged donations be made to an organization called charity: water, which resulted in being able to raise a lot of money to build wells in Ethiopia. I had visited Ethiopia and seen the water crisis there first hand.
On my last trip, I visited Seglamen, the village we funded through my birthday campaign. We celebrated with the community who now has clean water for the 4000 people living there. Words can't describe the feeling of meeting the people we're helping.
Is Ethiopia safe? Absolutely. We've been to Ethiopia almost 30 times and we've taken kids, too. Ethiopia is very safe and we'll be traveling with our local partners who are familiar with the region.
What's the food like? We'll eat a combination of local food and international cuisine. We'll make sure you have access to basics like pasta, eggs and bread, but do bring some power bars for the road.
Where will we stay? We'll spend the first night camping in tents, and the next two nights at Italian-inspired Gheralta Lodge at the foot of the Gheralta mountains. The best part: fresh Italian cuisine.
Do I need a visa? Yes. Download the application here and send it back to the consulate. We suggest you do this soon as it takes 30 days. To expedite the process, check out CBIT and Briggs.
