Campaigns We Love: Nickelback Challenge

What would you be willing to do for 168 consecutive hours? Anything? Think about it. That’s seven days of non-stop something! I’m a lover of all things Netflix and Spotify, but I don’t think I could do any one thing for an entire week.

Jesse Carey on the other hand… he’s going for it.

Jesse is an editor at RELEVANT Magazine who, after a recent podcast about charity: water, asked their audience to curate crazy ideas around how they could raise money for clean water. After a number of submissions, they received an instant-favorite: let’s have Jesse listen to 168 straight hours of the Canadian rock band Nickelback in an effort to raise $10,000 and bring clean water to an entire community in need.

Whoa.

Now… Nickelback has sold 50 million albums worldwide. They have tons of songs in the Billboard Top 100. It could be way worse. But doing anything for 168 hours becomes painful at some point.

We love seeing people come up with different, creative and crazy ways to raise money for clean water. And this one has been particularly fun to watch.

Jesse: We always say that the craziest thing we can do is nothing. Thank you for doing something. And for doing it big. Godspeed. We can’t wait to see where your campaign ends up.

Nickelback: We know that you’ve raised and donated hundreds of thousands of dollars for clean water in the past through the Obakki Foundation. Thank you for your commitment to this cause. And for tolerating alllll of this.
