We all have heard how gratitude makes for a happy life. Tonight, as our goal was met (and surpassed!), I felt a tremendous hit of gratitude. And I learned something important in that instant: gratitude is not only good for the spirit, but it also delivers tremendous joy. When I yelled our achievement for all of Clarendon to hear (!), I felt happiness, joy, gratitude, and energy all at once. As we all applauded, I looked around the room at all of you and almost wanted a moment just to ourselves, so I could say, thank you. I wanted to tell you that moment was the feeling of togetherness, team work, and success. And damn, it felt good!
We moved outside of ourselves and our world. We found a need, one difficult for us to imagine – the gift of water, such a basic element – that was denied to many, and we believed we could make a difference. And we did, even if it is a gallon of water at a time. The fact you all were onboard with this water drive, bodes well for any other goal we set as a team.
Remember how we all felt tonight. Remember the high that comes with setting a goal and achieving it. Remember the energy in the applause as we felt a success. Remember at the base of the good feeling was charity. Remember the togetherness.
I will not forget. Thank you!
