This campaign closed on Jun 3, 2010 erica hanna brought clean water to May Bunba 1 and 3 other projects.
All of my birthdays have always been about stuff. Stuff I don't want, stuff I definitely don't need. And to be honest, I hardly even remember what I got last year.
So this year, I'm giving my birthday up. (it's 5/20 but u get 3 months per campaign, so i'm getting a head start to raise more funds)
I'm turning 29 years old, and instead of asking for gifts, I'm asking for $29 or more from everyone I know. It's not going to me, though. All of it is going to build freshwater wells for people in developing nations.
To get to my goal, I need to raise over $50 a day. I'm not looking for handouts...although, gifts are nice :-) In exchange for a $50 donation, I'm offering you a new avatar photo (like the one above). I'll do a session with you, and together we can pick out a photo for me to "jazz up" in exchange for your donation.
Don't forget: A billion people in the world are living without clean water - but how much are they really living? Millions contract deadly diseases from contaminated water. 45,000 people will die this week alone. The lucky ones won't, but still walk hours each day to get dirty water to give to their families.
My birthday wish this year is not for more gifts I don't need; it's to give clean and safe drinking water to some of the billion living without it. I want to make my birthday matter this year.
Please join me.
please note: Because of charity: water's unique model, 100% of all donations go directly to direct water projects costs, and each donation is "proved" and tracked to the village it helped when projects are complete.
All donations made to erica hanna’s campaign
Diseases from unsafe water and lack of basic sanitation kill more people every year than all forms of violence, including war. Your donation will help change that.
100% of the money raised by this campaign is being used to bring clean water to help those in need. In 21 months we’ll be able to show you exactly where the money went and who it helped.
