Field Notes

Thanks to the group of supporters who donated and fundraised in late 2015, this school in the Morrumbala District in Mozambique received access to clean water! The donations funded a drilled well in a region where more than 68% of the population is living in poverty and only 15.8% of the population has access to clean water.

Each school project includes a water source and training on sanitation and hygiene. WASH clubs are formed at each school to encourage proper water point maintenance and hygiene practices, such as handwashing after using the latrine, among students. Having projects like this at schools not only improves health, but also increases attendance and can serve as a catalyst to improve the overall health of the surrounding community.
