Field Notes

Thanks to our local partner The International Rescue Committee, support from the surrounding community, and your generosity, 213 people in Ethiopia have access to clean and safe water!

You helped fund a spring protection system for a Community in Ethiopia, implemented by our local partner The International Rescue Committee. We rely on the expertise of local partners like The International Rescue Committee to choose the best solution for each unique situation. In this case, The International Rescue Committee’s thorough understanding of how to implement effective, sustainable water projects in their area led them to choose a spring protection system.

Spring protection systems establish a catchment area around the spring to capture clean water as it emerges from the ground. The water is then channeled into a storage tank, where it can be accessed by taps or pipes. This process ensures that clean water stays protected from contaminants and water-borne diseases.

Along with implementing water projects, our local partners also facilitate sanitation and hygiene initiatives to help promote everyone’s long-term health. These initiatives are often championed by community members themselves, who work hard to create positive change within their Community.

Clean water means education, income, and health—especially for women and girls. It truly changes everything. Thank you for funding clean water and transforming futures for 213 people in Ethiopia!
