Why Alison & Andy Kangas is fundraising for clean water

$30 for 30 miles ran on HWY 30...

On April 15, 2018, Alison Kangas and Katrina sharp, along with a relay team consisting of Briana Rotter, Ashley Strausser and Katie Olson will run from Rainier, Oregon to Scappoose,Oregon 30 miles. We want you to join us by donating $30, enough money to provide 1 person clean drinking water for life!

We got inspired to start this project after listening to Scott Harrison, founder of Charity Water speak at North Point Community Church. We love running but got tired of the sport being all about us and got inspired to use something we love to give to those in need. You can watch the inspiring talk here: http://northpoint.org/messages/voices/keeping-up-appearances/

Many of us have no idea what it's like to be thirsty. We have plenty of water to drink -- even the water in our toilets is clean!

But many people around the world don’t have that luxury. Every day, about 1,400 children die from diseases caused by unsafe water and poor sanitation. But it doesn’t have to be that way. There are simple solutions like drilled wells, spring protections and BioSand filters that help provide clean water to communities around the world.

We started this fundraising campaign to help charity: water build these types of projects around the world, and we are looking for anyone who can help.

Please donate to the campaign -- anything you can give is a huge help. $30 provides clean water for 1 person.

100% of the money will be used to build clean water projects, and when they’re complete, charity: water will send us photos and GPS coordinates so we can see the exact community we helped.

Hello friends and donors of the "30 for 30 on HWY 30" charity: water project ,

We hope this email finds you well during this crazy time in our world! It has been almost 2 years since we crossed the finish line of our 30 mile run and finished our fundraising for our charity: water project.

We recently got word that our water projects were completed in Kolkata, India. Two schools received water filtration systems allowing students access to clean water. What better timing for people to gain access to clean water for drinking and hygiene than during this time of Corona virus outbreak?

You can take a look at the 2 completed water projects that you helped fund here:

We are so grateful you joined us in bringing clean water to 1,799 people.

    Sincerely,
Alison, Ashley, Briana, Katie, Katrina & Jessica
