On Tuesday, Sept. 15, I'm turning 23.
Crazy to think about that, but even more crazy to think about what I want for my birthday. Because so many people have needs so much greater than anything I could want.
As I'm about to celebrate my 23rd birthday, millions of people don't live to see their 5th birthday. Why? Simply because they didn't have access to clean, safe water.
So this year, I'm asking for $23 from everyone I know - and every penny of the money raised will go directly to fund freshwater wells in developing nations. Even better, every dollar is "proved" when the projects are complete, and photos and GPS coordinates are posted using Google Earth.
My goal is to raise $250. One well can provide water to 250 people, which is definitely something I want. :)
