This year for my birthday I am looking for 17 people to give $24 USD to give $408 USD total to provide 10 people with clean water.

After reading "Thirst" by Scott Harrison approximately a year ago about how he founded and runs charity: water and what he aims to do I have wanted to conduct a fundraising campaign. Working in the water industry myself, its something I share a passion for and want everyone to have access to safe and clean drinking water. Another great thing about giving to charity: water is that they operate on a 100% giving model, meaning they get funding from corporate style donors to cover all overheads so the money we raise is 100% given to providing clean water.

Some facts to show why I am a huge supporter of charity: water and what they are doing:
- They have funded almost 80,000 projects so far in 29 countries serving 13.2 Million people
- 785 Million people in the world still live without clean water
- Diseases from dirty water kill more people every year than all forms of violence, including war
- In Africa alone, women spend 40 billion hours a year walking for water. When clean water is made available this improves communities by allowing more time to grow food, earn an income, go to school and helps fight against poverty. This results in every $1 invested in clean water can yield $4-$12 in economic returns.
