On December 8th I'll be another year older and perhaps this time another year wiser - instead of asking everyone to traipse up to my mum's house in North London in fancy dress to celebrate my birthday, I’m giving up my birthday for charity: water and asking if you'll help me bring clean water to a village.

It would mean so much if you could spare a penny or a pound, a nickel or a dime, a drachma (in case they bring it back!) or a euro, to help me raise money for a cause I'm really passionate about. 1 in 8 people do not have access to clean water. It's shocking.

Over the last couple of years I've come to know the charity: water guys well - they ask people to give up their birthdays for donations instead of gifts and 100% of the money you donate goes to fund water projects.

So if you can spare a minute or two, and a little bit of the green stuff, I would be so grateful if you would consider helping me reach my goal of raising $5,000. That's how much it costs to build a well to bring clean water to a community of 250 people. I know it's the end of the year and the purse strings are tight so if you can't donate it's completely understandable! But if you can, every donation however small, can help make a big difference. This is the first time I've fundraised like this and let's face it, I'm never going to run a marathon...
