Just imagine if you had to run a 5K each and every day to get a basic item that many of us take for granted-- water. But this is not the clean water most of us a used to, this water has been sitting in a stagnate pool for months and is brimming with parasites and bacteria. This may seem grim, but over 800 million people in the developing world wake up to this reality each and every day. It is far from hopeless though because clean water changes everything.

When people have access to clean drinking water their entire community is changed. The walk for water that used to take three hours now takes 15 minutes and the water is safe to drink. This gives children the time they need to attend school and adults the opportunity to start their own small businesses. Communities are able to set up functional latrines and hand washing stations to help stop the spread of disease. A dying community can be transformed into a thriving one and it all starts with water.
