Significance.
This is a word I never used nor paid much attention to and yet it absolutely describes what motivates me. I have an intense desire to make a difference in the world – to do something of significant value!

I am fully aware that I am just one person, and I learnt that joint efforts could certainly move things faster than if I did it on my own. Being one person that desires to make an impact, I making use of all the resources I have to draw more people in. (One of my Top 5 Clifton StrengthsFinder themes called Significance has now become a word I regularly use.)

All my life I have tried to find ways to impact people, challenge people, help them grow and bring them hope and encouragement. This year I decided to donate my birthday to a charity for water campaign. The idea is to get my friends to give to the campaign and not to buy me birthday gifts.

I did not come up with this myself, but was introduced to the charity: water organisation by Gavin Cargill (Value the Person) when I asked my Facebook friends for ideas on how to celebrate my birthday.

Many of us have no idea what it feels like to be thirsty. We have easy access to clean water almost everywhere we go.

But many people around the world are not as privileged. Every day, 5,000 kids die from water-related illnesses before they reach their fifth birthday. We can surely do something about this! There are simple solutions like drilled wells, spring protections and BioSand filters that help provide clean water to communities around the world.

I started this fundraising campaign to help charity: water build these types of projects around the world and I need your help. This campaign is raising money specifically for Rwanda. I am quite excited and truly hope that you will take part and help raise money for the campaign. You can even go as far as donating your own birthday and so start another campaign!

Please donate to my campaign – anything you can give is a huge help.
