AP Environmental Science students, Environmental Concerns Organization (ECO) members, and Amnesty International Club members at Hinsdale South High School have teamed up to take on the issue of clean water. It is the goal of this walk to raise awareness about this issue and take action to increase access to clean water for those in need.

The Walk for Water will take place from 4 pm to 7 pm on April 28th at the Hinsdale South Stadium. Any individual can take part in the walk by clicking on the "Join the Team" button on this page and creating your own fundraising page. Once the page is set up, acquire at least $20 in donations. The $20 is just a minimum amount. Please fill free to raise as much money as you can to help the cause. The $20 minimum guarantees a time slot at the walk and Walk for Water t-shirt. Walk time slots will occur in 5 minute increments. During the walk, participants will carry water jugs to simulate the walk women in Africa take to gather water for their families. Prizes will be awarded to individuals and teams that can carry the water the longest distance in the 5 minute time period.

You can take part in the walk as an individual or with a team. Teams can have a maximum of 4 members. Teams will create their own fundraising page that will link to this campaign home page and all funds will contribute to our $1,500.00 goal.

"Many of us have no idea what it's like to be thirsty. We have plenty of water to drink -- even the water in our toilets is clean!

But many people around the world don’t have that luxury. Every day, about 1,400 children die from diseases caused by unsafe water and poor sanitation. But it doesn’t have to be that way. There are simple solutions like drilled wells, spring protections and BioSand filters that help provide clean water to communities around the world.
