Why Jennifer Phillips is fundraising for clean water

This past summer, we were hiking a wooded trail and my daughter dropped her water bottle in the dirt. As she bent down to wash it in the stream, I reminded her "Don't drink that water", and she surprised me by saying "Mom, I know better than that. It doesn't have the cleaning drops in it. I could get sick". As we walked, I began to wonder how many mothers have to worry about clean water every single day. It turns out the answer is "alot".

Nearly 1,400 children die every single day from diseases caused by unsafe water and poor sanitation. But it doesn’t have to be this way. Simple solutions like drilled wells, spring protections, and BioSand filters can help provide clean water to communities around the world.

My greatest joy is teaching children, and my dream is that providing clean water to areas in need will allow more children the opportunity to live, love, learn, and grow in their communities.

Please donate to our campaign -- anything you can give will make a huge difference.

100% of the money we raise will be used to build clean water projects, and when they’re complete, charity: water will send photos and GPS coordinates to Harmony Music School so we can see the exact location of the community we helped. I will in turn share all of the updates with you!

Thank you so much for donating to this important cause. Together, we can change the world.

In harmony,
Jennifer
