This campaign closed on Sep 8, 2011 Joshua Holmes brought clean water to Motilanto and 1 other project.
Starting on July 14th, Naresh and myself are each going to be running the Last Annual Vol State 500K Road Race through toasty Tennessee. (That's 314 miles a piece.) We aren't only doing this because we are idiots, but also to raise money to build a well in a developing country. This well will provide water for 250 people.
That's 314 miles of sweating, giving everything we've got, and pushing our bodies to the limit.
Sounds rough, right? Well imagine doing all of that without clean water.
Every week, millions of women and their children walk more than 14 miles just to get water for their families. Most of this water is contaminated, but it's the only water they have. They take the chance of catching diseases like bilharzia and schistosomiasis (parasites) - with every sip. There's nothing they can do to change it.
So, what can I do?
Our mission is to raise $5,000 for water. We want every step to matter. We're asking for pledges per foot, per mile or flat out donations to help achieve our goal.
Because of charity: water's unique model, 100% of all donations go directly to water projects, and each donation is "proved" when projects are complete. We aim to raise $5,000 in the next three months.
We hope you'll join us in helping them now.

Diseases from unsafe water and lack of basic sanitation kill more people every year than all forms of violence, including war. Your donation will help change that.
100% of the money raised by this campaign is being used to bring clean water to help those in need. In 21 months we’ll be able to show you exactly where the money went and who it helped.
