I know. The thought of giving up your morning coffee starts to give you the jitters. That cup of OJ with your breakfast is your security blanket. But here’s the thing. Many of us have no idea of what it’s like to be thirsty. We have plenty of water to drink -- even the water in our toilets is clean! We choose to drink our luxurious cup of java and our fresh pressed orange juice.

But many people around the world don’t have that luxury. Every day, diseases from dirty water kill more people every year than all forms of violence, including war. Almost half of those deaths are children under five years old. But it doesn’t have to be that way. There are simple solutions like drilled wells, spring protections and BioSand filters that help provide clean water to communities around the world.

We started this fundraising campaign to help the organization charity: water build these types of projects around the world, and we’re looking for anyone who can help us.

How can you help, you ask? If you’re anything like us, you probably drink almost anything BUT water (coffee, juice, milk, etc.). We encourage you to stand beside us as we give up these luxuries and drink nothing but water for a specific amount of time--it could be a day, a week, or even a month. For every week that you drink just water, you use the money that you’ve saved to donate to charity: water, so if you drink 2 weeks worth of just water, you’ll have a savings of around $50. If you feel like you can only do a day, that’s still $5 of savings! Personally, we are giving up all beverages but water for the entire month of March, culminating in our event at Worcester State University on March 29th to bring a fresh perspective to the cause.

So, please donate to our campaign -- don’t feel limited to a huge amount or a small portion, because anything and everything is a huge help.

100% of the money will be used to build clean water projects, and when they’re complete, charity: water will send us photos and GPS coordinates so we can see the exact community we helped.
