Many of us have no idea what it's like to be thirsty. We have plenty of water to drink -- even the water in our toilets is clean! We also have no concept of working to get our water - we simply walk a few feet and turn on a faucet.

But many people around the world don’t have these luxuries. On average many people around the world, mostly women and children in third world countries, have to travel an average 6k (3.7 miles) every day to retrieve water for drinking and cooking. Every day, about 1,400 children die from diseases caused by the unsafe water they are retrieving and poor sanitation. It doesn’t have to be this way. There are simple solutions like drilled wells, spring protections and BioSand filters that help provide clean water to communities around the world. In addition if wells are closer to their communities even more of the burden is lifted.

Our family started this fundraising campaign to help charity: water build these types of projects around the world, and we are looking for anyone who can help us. In recognition of the trek many currently take to retrieve their water, our family will be walking 6k as a family on Friday, May 22. We ask you to come along with us either by taking the walk with us, forwarding this campaign on to your family and friends, or simply donate to our fundraiser. Our goal is to raise $500 to provide clean water for approximately 12 people.
