charity:water is Jimmy’s philanthropic organization of choice for a multitude of reasons. A quick look around charitywater.org (see above) demonstrates how impressive this organization is at maximizing donor dollars.

So, why not just give a conventional birthday gift?

Jimmy is privileged and he knows it. He has a place to live, clean water to drink, healthy food to eat, a job he enjoys, and material comforts that most people in this world can’t even dream of. The best gift that you can give him is a gift to someone who needs it more. I’m certain he’d agree.

$625 represents 25 people donating $25 dollars each in honor of Jimmy's 25th birthday. If this goal is met, great! If it falls short, no big deal! Gift as you can but feel no obligation to a particular amount (or giving at all).
