This fundraiser is dedicated to my Grandma Laurell, who passed away due to complications from COVID-19 on December 11, 2020. This was all so fast and unexpected. Not being able to hold her hand or give her a hug for the majority of this year has been so painful. Nonetheless, Grandma had a way of making you feel seen and heard even without that physical touch. Regardless of who you were, she would make you feel welcomed and so loved with her words.

My family is still grieving, but we also want to dedicate this fundraiser to her and to the legacy that she left. I think the mission of charity:water aligns with Laurell's heart. She had a heart that poured out love for the oppressed, the down trodden, and the forgotten. She encouraged and supported me to pursue love and generosity in so many regards. She taught me to fix my eyes on Christ, the author and perfecter of our faith. She showed me how to have fun. She listened so well. She let me eat to my heart's content. :) She was always so affirming of what I was doing, making sure I knew she was proud of me. She still motivates me today.

So, I start this campaign as a way to honor Laurell and the way she chose to live her life. I hope you join me in this endeavor to give clean water to a people in need. Some things feel out of control right now, that is for sure. I can choose to try my best to live in such a way that I bring honor to God and embody the heart of my dear Grandma.

Many of us have no idea what it's like to be thirsty. We have plenty of water to drink -- even the water in our toilets is clean!

But many people around the world don’t have that luxury. Every day, about 1,400 children die from diseases caused by unsafe water and poor sanitation. But it doesn’t have to be that way. There are simple solutions like drilled wells, spring protections and BioSand filters that help provide clean water to communities around the world.

I started this fundraising campaign to help charity: water build these types of projects around the world, and I'm looking for anyone who can help me.
