If you didn't pick it up from the whole "millennial working at a single place for 10 years" thing, clean water is a cause I care a whole lot about.

Because 771 million people today lack access to clean and safe drinking water. That's 1 in 10 people on the planet, or twice the population of the entire United States. Most live in rural areas in developing countries -- where water is not only unsafe to drink, but also where women and girls have to spend hours every day walking, waiting, and walking back home (with around 40 lbs in tow). Just because of where they happened to be born.

It's always exhausting. It's frequently dangerous. And while I may not be working on Monday in order to nurse my exhausted legs and lungs, collecting water is not a task you can take time off from. So those hours, every day? It's time girls can't spend learning or chasing a dream. It's time women can't spend earning extra income or pursuing a hobby. It's time families and friends can't spend just resting and hanging out with each other.

The least I can do is run a marathon to change that.
