I've walked the 500+ mile Camino de Santiago before. For adventure, for fun, for friendship, and for freedom. It's been life-changing. My walks are something that I choose to do. And though I carry my personal possessions in a rucksack on my back, my hikes are steeped in relative luxury. I have always found a comfortable bed at the end of day. My meals are nutritious and plentiful. And, most importantly, the water I drink all along the way is abundant and clean.
For 703 million people in the world today, walks aren't for recreation – they are for survival.
703 million people in our world still live without access to the safe, clean water we take for granted. That's 1 person in 10. Some will walk miles, often in treacherous conditions and extreme heat, to find water. Any water. Even unclean water that makes them sick, or die. And, disproportionally, the people tasked with the difficult responsibility of water collection in communities where water cannot be found - are women and girls.
They are our neighbors.
For all the problems in the world which seem to have no resolution – this one is fixable. That’s why this Camino, I’m walking for charity:water. This organization is brilliant at finding safe water for our neighbors who have none.
Please consider supporting my walk for water. Every $40 raised will provide a lifetime of clean water to one person. Most importantly, 100% of every dollar you donate goes directly to providing the life-changing gift of clean water where it’s needed most. Yes, 100%. Their over-head expenses are donated in full by other benefactors. charity:water will even report back to you with details of exactly where your money went, and how it’s helping.
Thank you for helping me find our neighbors some clean water!

Good afternoon, friends! I wanted to share great news in case you didn't already see it... We've got an update on our charity:water projects thus far! At the bottom of this campaign page from last year are reports back regarding where the projects were completed and the people who were impacted. Projects listed are in Malawi (for 127 people!) and Rwanda (for 264 people!) These are lives changed forever for the better - and you helped to make this happen! Full details of the types of projects are included in the report. Thank you again! And, it's so timely... my friend Susie and I will be heading out in two days from now for another Camino (Susie's first). We're starting another campaign (link provided on last year's campaign home page) and hope to double our impact this year. Thank you for considering joining us!
Because one Camino for Charity:Water isn't enough - and there are more of our neighbors who still need water - I'll be heading out in August on another hike. Please feel free to join me either on the new campaign page (linked on this page) and/or on the blog: www.MoreLaterFromElsewhere.com. This time... Portugal! :)

100% of the money raised by this campaign is being used to bring clean water to help those in need. In 21 months we'll be able to show you exactly where the money went and who it helped.
Happy weekend, Friends! We’re over halfway to our goal - already providing life-changing clean water to over 125 people. We have one more week open in this campaign - so if you’re considering donating or sharing the post, please do so. Thank you to those who have helped thus far and for all the support in our walk. Also, an update on funds raised in the 2024 campaign - they’ve been combined with other donors’ funds and projects have been completed in Rwanda and Malawi, providing clean water for 391 of our dear neighbors.
Thank you again! God bless! 💧💕
