Why SpasPushingLimits is fundraising for clean water

Many of us have no idea what it's like to be thirsty. We have plenty of water to drink -- even the water in our toilets is clean!

But many people around the world don’t have that luxury. Every day, about 1,400 children die from diseases caused by unsafe water and poor sanitation. But it doesn’t have to be that way. There are simple solutions like drilled wells, spring protections and BioSand filters that help provide clean water to communities around the world.

A few years back, when I started #SpasPushingLimits, which is a group of enthusiastic and highly motivated spa professionals who wants to challenge themselves by participating in moderate to difficult fitness events, while raising funds for varies non-profit organizations, my mission was always to pick charities that would have a direct impact on people and communities.

In 2017 our group participated in two events, Half Ironman 70.3 Victoria BC raising funds for Eminence Kids Foundation, and a pre-ISPA Conference Red Rock Canyon hike raising funds for Leukemia Lymphoma Society. We had over 50 spa professionals registered for our 2017 events and raised close to $20,000.00 resulting in a brand new Eminence Kids location in Charleston SC.

In 2018 we participated in two events, Half Ironman 70.3 Boulder CO and a pre-ISPA Conference Camelback Mountain Hike. 30+ spa professionals participated and we raised $15,000+ for Wellness For Cancer and "Giving Back to Our Own" program, a program earmarked to send spa professionals who has been touched by cancer to weekend retreats.

For 2019 our group will be participating in our 3rd Half Ironman 70.3 and a few will be doing Ironman 140.6 - this time in Haugesund Norway.
This time I have picked Charity:Water as our beneficiary. It’s a wonderful charity that many of our industry friends are familiar with, some already having made a huge impact. I love this charity because 100% of the funds raised goes to the field, and it’s a charity that provides reports and updates back to the donors. It’s a charity that improve health, boost local economies, empower women, and give children more time in school. As a privileged triathlete, having the luxury of good health and clean water each day, it’s important to me and our group that we give back. Our goal is to raise enough money to be the sole sponsor on a brand new Water Project. To do this, we need to raise a minimum of $10,000.00. We have done it before, and together, we will do it again!

Please donate to our campaign -- anything you can give is a huge help.

100% of the money will be used to build clean water projects. charity: water will send us photos and GPS coordinates so we can see the exact community we helped.
Thank you in advance and we look forward to a healthy and productive 2019!
