“Power is the ability to do good things for others”

The Briarcliff Middle School Greenhouse club is proud to announce our annual charity:water campaign. For the past 8 years the Briarcliff Community has been raising money for people in need of the most basic necessity in life, clean safe water. In that time we have raised enough money to fund two wells in Africa and two in Nepal. These wells have changed the lives for over 2,000 people.

Many of us have no idea what it's like to really be thirsty. We all are fortunate enough to have plenty of water to drink -- even the water in our toilets is clean.

Unfortunately, many people around the world don’t have that luxury. Every day, about 1,400 children die from diseases caused by unsafe water and poor sanitation. In many parts of the world woman and children often spend their days walking miles to get water for their families (that is not even safe to drink) but it is their only option. Chairty: Water was developed because the know it does not have to be this way. There are simple solutions like drilled wells, spring protections and BioSand filters that help provide clean water to communities around the world.

The BMS Greenhouse Club started this fundraising campaign to help charity: water build these types of projects around the world, and we are looking for anyone who can help us achieve our goal this year.

The unique part of this organization is that 100% of the money will be used to build clean water projects, and when they’re complete, charity: water will send us photos and GPS coordinates so we can see the exact community we helped.
