charity: water was founded on a birthday, a September birthday. Every September, to celebrate, we raise money for one specific region. This year, we’re focusing on Orissa, India, where our partners are using clean water to break the cycle of poverty and promote social equality.

28 was a good year for me. I moved to the greatest city in the world and took a position at charity: water to help end the world water crisis. I also had my eyes opened to the number of people who need help to receive something as basic as drinking water. Nearly a billion people on the planet do not have access to clean drinking water. That's 1 in 9 of us.

This year I'd like to give back and donate my 29th birthday to help others in need. I do not want presents, a fancy dinner, or even a card. Instead I ask that you donate to the people of India in honor of my 29th birthday.

To provide some perspective:
$45 brings clean water to 1 person.
$450 brings clean water to a family.

If you'd like, go ahead and commemorate my 29th with $29 cause let's be serious, I fall into a whole new bracket next year.

100% of every dollar you donate to my birthday campaign will be used to build clean water projects.
