Everyone hears about world hunger, but you don't hear as much about world thirst. You can live three weeks or more without food. But you can only go about 3 days without water.

In the United States, water shortages mean maybe that it hasn't rained in awhile. Your lawn dries up. They ask you to run the sprinklers at night. It never means you go thirsty.

But imagine if you didn't have water you could drink running out of your tap. I don't mean water you were suspicious of, so you decide to buy a filter, I mean water that would kill you.

Water is heavy, but you'd go to any length to find it. Sweating out more of the water you need in order to get the little you can to survive. And that water might not be uncontaminated itself. It could cause diarrhea and contaminate you with parasites. 80% of all diseases in the world are caused by unsafe water and poor sanitation.

The word crisis gets tossed about with abandon, but if it has any meaning left it applies to people who live in areas with severe water shortages. Maybe you can do something fairly easy to help. Revision 3 has started a campaign and in the next three months, they aim to raise $5,000 to build clean water wells for people who need them.
