Why Forrestdale School is fundraising for clean water

The Rumson School District Mission Statement:
The Rumson School District ignites the potential of its learners by growing, inspiring, and cultivating personal excellence academically, socially, and emotionally.

The Rumson School District mission statement challenges our students to realize their ability to not only help themselves, but to help others. Many of us have no idea what it's like to be thirsty. We have plenty of water to drink -- even the water in our toilets is clean!

Millions of people around the world don’t have that luxury. Every day, about 1,400 children die from diseases caused by unsafe water and poor sanitation. 663 million people in the world live without clean water. That’s nearly 1 in 10 people worldwide.

Access to clean water and basic sanitation can save around 16,000 lives every week. Clean water helps keep kids in school, especially girls. In Africa alone, women spend 40 billion hours a year walking for water. Less time collecting water means more time in class. Clean water at school means teenage girls don’t have to stay home for a week out of every month. But there are simple solutions like drilled wells, spring protections and BioSand filters that help provide clean water to communities around the world.

Two years ago, Forrestdale School started this fundraising campaign to help charity: water build these types of projects around the world, and we are looking for anyone who can help us.
We set our preliminary goal at $5,000 because we want to provide a lifetime of clean water to hundreds in need. If we quickly reach that goal, we will strive to continue our fundraising with the hope to reach enough to provide one well for a community. If you have found your way to this page, chances are you know a Bulldog who wants to make a difference. Every donation brings us closer to our goal so please donate to our campaign -- anything you can give is a huge help.

When you donate, 100% of your money will be used to build clean water projects, and when they’re complete, charity: water will send you photos and GPS coordinates so you can see the actual exact community your generosity helped.

With a big Bulldog hug, we thank you!
