Many of us have NO IDEA what it's like to be thirsty.

We have plenty of water to drink -- even the water in our toilets is clean!

In 2012 I had the pleasure of hearing my friend Scott Harrison speak and share his journey that brought him to the reality of what charity: water is today.

His talk resonated in my heart, so the following year I decided to "Pledge My Birthday" by giving it up for clean water. A campaign that charity:water designed to help enroll others in donating to clean water versus receiving gifts from friends and family.

The campaign was a success as I raised $1,044 and was able to bring clean water to 161 people in Ethiopia who didn't otherwise have access to water at all.

2 years later, I decided to do it again. This time I wanted to leverage my platform since I was booked for an Emcee gig on the actual day of my birthday, and instead of having everyone sing Happy Birthday I wanted people to donate.

So I reached out to Scott and his team at Charity:Water for some buzz content that I could share with the audience about the reality of our clean water crisis.

It was again a success as I raised $1,406 serving 391 people in Mali by drilling a well there.

To say that giving up your birthday for clean is fulfilling would be an understatement.

It's been 4 years, and since I'm celebrating a huge milestone in life by turning 40 next week, I'm ready to do it again!
