Field Notes

Before this freshwater well was built at the Olenguruone District Hospital in the Kurusia District, local people used unreliable municipal water or bought unclean water from vendors. Diarrhea was common. Now, the clinic (serving an area of 48,000 people) uses safe water onsite and conducts sanitation training for locals. Health care workers like Nancy Koech, pictured here, say they are grateful to use safe, clean water in the clinic.
