Thanks to our local partner Jal Bhagirathi Foundation, support from the surrounding community, and your generosity, 11 people in India have access to clean and safe water!
You helped fund a rainwater harvesting system for a Community in India, implemented by our local partner Jal Bhagirathi Foundation. We rely on the expertise of local partners like Jal Bhagirathi Foundation to choose the best solution for each unique situation. In this case, Jal Bhagirathi Foundation’s thorough understanding of how to implement effective, sustainable water projects in their area led them to choose a rainwater harvesting system.
Rainwater generally meets drinking water standards. The process of evaporation and condensation naturally remove any particles in the water, like pathogens and dirt, making it safe to drink. Catchment areas can be made from materials like plastic tarps or concrete. A roof can also serve as a catchment area. Rainwater is then channeled into a vessel to be safely stored until ready to be used.
Along with implementing water projects, our local partners also facilitate sanitation and hygiene initiatives to help promote everyone’s long-term health. These initiatives are often championed by community members themselves, who work hard to create positive change within their Community.
Clean water means education, income, and health—especially for women and girls. It truly changes everything. Thank you for funding clean water and transforming futures for 11 people in India!
We publish a project when we've approved a final report from our partners and made sure your project is working for the best of the community.
These are the GPS coordinates of your project, plotted in Google Maps. A GPS (Global Positioning System) coordinate is the exact latitude and longitude of any given point on the Earth’s surface. charity: water uses GPS coordinates to record the location of each water project we fund. Please note: there are many of different formats for GPS. We use degree decimal format.
This is the population of the community that has access to your water project.
This is the cost of the water project you funded. Costs vary by country and by project type, and depend on a wide range of variables such as the local cost of fuel and cement at the time your project was built. This project’s cost includes any hygiene training or community maintenance models for the project’s sustainability.
charity: water works with partners in the field to build and implement water projects. Our partners have years of experience. They know the land, the people, the culture and the most appropriate water technology for each area of work. They report this data from the field to help us provide proof of your completed project(s).
This ID is how we track your project in our system.
