Landlocked Bolivia has seen its share of internal conflict, including 200 coups and countercoups. It's one of the poorest and least-developed countries in South America. Poverty is widespread in the rural countryside, especially amongst indigenous communities, where the majority live on less than $2 (USD) per day.

Although there is water in the hills, it often takes hours to collect and gathers pollutants as it moves downhill.
