15 Runners. 26.2 Miles. One mission to bring clean water to people around the world.
Access to clean, safe water opens a multitude of opportunities for women, children, and all in underprivileged communities. Because of charity : water's projects, the effort and time once spent walking daily to get water, is now available for schooling, learning a trade, starting a business, etc. Not only are these individuals able to expand their minds and redirect their energy and efforts, their overall health benefits from safe, drinking-water.
100% of our campaign funds will be sent to Zimbabwe to build THREE wells; which supports 9,000 people annually with clean drinking water.
Zimbabwe, a landlocked Southern African nation, faces severe water and sanitation challenges following years of economic crisis, political turmoil, and recurring droughts. Approximately 46% of its rural population lacks basic water access, and over 68% lack basic sanitation. Ranked 153rd out of 193 countries on the 2025 Human Development Index, Zimbabwe also has 49.2% of its population living on less than $3 a day.
We believe in the good of humanity, the power and will within each of us to help support what is right, and the need to make sure everyone in the world has a basic and safe resource: water. We believe that together is better and that unity makes us stronger. We are part of a team now, and recognize the ones that have come before us; they inspire us to work hard to reach our goal, physically and charitably, and show us the incremental change that they made and that we too, can make. All these parts are part of a bigger story - the charity : water story and dream - our piece will be woven (pun intended) into it forever and we are proud to be here.
Please review the mission and feel free to reach out to us with any questions.
Projects typically take about 18 months to complete. We anticipate a 2028 completion for our wells.
Sydney, Susan, and I wholeheartedly want to support charity: water's mission: to make clean water available & accessible to everyone in the world. Thank you for helping us get there!!
We cannot wait to share it with you!
Sincerely,
Rachel, Sydney, and Susan

Hello Charity : water Supporters & Friends & Family!
We have 4 important updates for everyone!
1. We have recruited our friend, Susan Jones (Dallas, TX), to run with us this year! Susan and Rachel went to college together at the University of Georgia and spent a tremendous amount of time running the trails of East Campus. Additionally, they and their husbands adventured together to Shanghai for work and experience for almost 2 years together. Welcome to The Big Quench Team, Susan!
2. We have been training ....and running... and running more... and sweating.....and running more.... and more......and working through pains, aches and some injuries. It's been tough, but rewarding.
- Sydney has been bearing through the high temperatures and humidity in Dalton, GA. She has also connected with the local running club in town!
- Rachel has been running the bridges and boardwalks of Southern New Jersey. She's getting real wake up call with the Dalton hills!! She is also adding pool running to her training experiences.
- Susan has been working through a very similar heat-dome-situation as Sydney in Dallas! She even is doing this while pushing her 3 year old, McCall, in a stroller. Wow!
None-the-less, we are working through it one day at a time & the fall season is greatly welcomed!
3. Our campaign goal - increased to $30,000 - is in reach! We are getting there. Please share our story. We would be grateful if you did; and we are grateful for what you have already given!
4. Zimbabwe : 100% of our campaign funds will be sent to Zimbabwe! $30,000 equals 3 wells, giving 9,000 people access to clean water. We will be able to share updates on the building progress and completion.
Thank you all & stay tuned for more updates.
Enjoy the remaining bits of summer,
Rachel, Sydney, & Susan
