Why SAMANTHA is fundraising for clean water

It has been ten years since my first charity: water birthday campaign. Between the first and second campaigns (my 22nd and 23rd birthdays), we raised over $5,000 to help support the totally possible and entirely necessary goal of getting clean water to everyone who drinks it… which is everyone. AND, it also includes every *plant and animal.*

Since my last fundraisers, I’ve done so much farming and I’ve used so much water to do it. Chickens can’t make eggs without it, and cows can’t make milk without it. Plants can’t survive summers in the south without some extra water in between rains.
Nasty water makes animals unhealthy, and when an animal is unhealthy, the last thing you want to do is eat or drink what their bodies produce. I say all of this because water has become an even bigger part of my life than it ever was before, and clean water makes all the difference.

I know $10,000 is a lofty goal, but I believe we can do it. And for those of you who are willing to consider making a donation to the cause, I thought you could consider trying something…

Try to spend a few days recognizing all of the ways that clean water is part of your life. Try to think of everything… showering, filling up the kettle for tea, flushing the toilet, brushing your teeth, washing an apple, swimming in a pool, taking care of your animals, running the dishwasher, cleaning up a mess, watering plants, or washing the car, or a simple glass of it with dinner… There are countless ways that [clean] water is part of your day. So, when it comes to how you can support, this was my idea:

Think of how much one day’s worth of clean water means to you and the value it holds. If all of your clean water went away for just one day, what would you be willing to pay to get it back? If it suddenly disappeared, what would you be willing to pay to have clean water restored to you for all of your life’s many needs that revolve around its use?

Would you consider giving *that* amount?

There are simple solutions to this problem, and people who are willing to help. Please consider giving to support those whose boots are there on the ground, doing the dirty work to give access to the clean, life-giving water just out of reach to so many. We can change the lives of beautiful people whom we will never meet during our whole entire lives on earth, yet somehow the Lord will still know that we did it… that we played a part. As the saying goes, “Christ has no hands but ours.”

“And the King will answer them, ‘Truly, I say to you, as you did it to one of the least of these my brothers, you did it to me.’” — ‭‭Matthew‬ ‭25‬:‭40‬ ‭ESV‬‬

Thank you for reading this and for helping to make my 32nd birthday so memorable and meaningful. God bless you all.

There is SO MUCH of my life that revolves around having access to clean water. I don’t know how I would make it through one day without it.

Giddy up, everyone! Let’s make some tidal waves!

“The wilderness and the dry land shall be glad; the desert shall rejoice and blossom like the crocus; it shall blossom abundantly and rejoice with joy and singing. The glory of Lebanon shall be given to it, the majesty of Carmel and Sharon. They shall see the glory of the Lord, the majesty of our God.”
    ‭‭Isaiah‬ ‭35‬:‭1‬-‭2‬ ‭ESV‬‬
