I have recently been rediscovering my love of religion and community through a couple different churches here in Georgia! A guest speaker at Buckhead Church spoke about this charity he started, charity: water.

Many of us have no idea what it's like to be thirsty. We have plenty of water to drink -- even the water in our toilets is clean!

But many people around the world don’t have that luxury. Every day, about 1,400 children die from diseases caused by unsafe water and poor sanitation. But it doesn’t have to be that way. There are simple solutions like drilled wells, spring protections and BioSand filters that help provide clean water to communities around the world.

He really shocked the room as he spoke about how 52% of diseases can be avoided by clean drinking water and how this is a solvable problem!

When developing this charity, he wanted to do two things:

1. Make it fun and creative! He took the negative life choices and experiences he had during his 10 years as a club promoter and thought of the idea of throwing a party to raise money! He encourages people to pledge their birthdays and ask their friends and family to donate their age in money.

2. He wanted 100% of the money to go toward the cause, and he wanted to show the givers what they made happen! 100% of the money will be used to build clean water projects, and when they’re complete, charity: water will send us photos and GPS coordinates so we can see the exact community we helped! This aspect of the charity I thought was genius!

I am simply looking for everyone to donate $26 for my 26th birthday! My goal is $600 which would help 20 people get clean water!
