If you're like me than you probably didn't know that 1/10 of the world's population lives without access to clean water. That's exactly 663 million people or double the population of the United States. Because of this, nearly 1,400 children die from diseases caused by unsafe water and poor sanitation every single day.

I don't share these statistics to make you feel guilty. I woke up today and got a glass of purified water from my fridge without thinking twice about it. The majority of us live every single day enjoying a luxury that others can only dream of. But it doesn't have to stay that way.

This is not a ploy to get you to fork over $100 or even $50. What if today you simply went without that $5 cup of coffee? What if instead you donated that money to helping someone just like you have clean water for the first time in their lives?

I know what you may be thinking: "Will that $5 even go towards helping people or am I paying for someone's salary?" Charity: water has pledged that 100% of your hard earned money will be used to bring clean water to those in need (That's right, you heard me). When they are finished with the project you will receive photos & GPS coordinates showing you exactly what your contribution made possible.

We've all heard enough cliche quotes to last a lifetime but one of my all time favorites, Mother Teresa, once said, "If you can't feed 100 people, then feed just one." You don't need to wait to be apart of this story. Even if all you can give today is $1 your contribution could be the difference maker.

Someone very wise once told me to never ask anyone to do something that I am not willing to do myself. It's because of this that I have already kicked off this campaign with my own money and will continue to donate to it until it ends.
