I start off by a Hadith that explains the importance of charity (sadaqah):

Abu Hurairah (r.a.) reported Allah’s Messenger (s.a.w.) as saying: “Charity does not in any way decrease the wealth and the servant who forgives, Allah adds to his respect; and the one who shows humility, Allah elevates him in the estimation (of the people).” (Muslim Vol. 4, Hadith 6264)

Sadaqah is not restricted to giving part of our wealth or material possessions or any special deed of righteousness. AND, sadaqah is an easy way to increase our Iman!

It's something we take for granted. We're talking about the basic necessity to living. Something, as a human, you cannot go more than 3 days without: Water.
