In case you forgot, I'm turning 24 years young in late-August. Instead of throwing a wild party, I thought I’d do something different and have a fundraiser to provide clean water for a community in need.

Most of you already know that I believe in Seva and helping the less fortunate. Water is life's most basic need and it's estimated that 800 million people don't have access to clean water. Of those people, approximately 30,000 people will die this week alone because clean water isn't accessible. We all take a lot for granted, so rather than indulging in my epicurean habits on my 24th, I thought I'd use my birthday as an opportunity to help people that need more than I do.

So instead of buying me a drink, donate that money so a village in a developing country can drink clean water for a lifetime. Any amount that you can chip in is helpful - even $5 makes a difference. Your donation will make me smile and will probably make you feel good about yourself. Most importantly, your donation will have a positive impact on scores of lives.

I'm running the campaign through charity: water, an organization that ensures EVERY dollar donated goes directly towards the clean water project. A really cool part about charity: water's operation is that 18 months after this fundraiser ends, they'll send us an e-mail showing where and how the money was used. We'll see maps, photos, videos, interviews, and more information about the people we've helped.
