Why Breeze at Cape Yamu is fundraising for clean water

780 million people need access to safe water - we waste 3 liters of water to produce 1 liter of bottled water

Many of us have no idea what it's like to be thirsty. We have plenty of water to drink -- even the water in our toilets is clean!

At Breeze we are concerned about the economic and environmental impacts of bottled water. We don’t sell still water in bottles; we do however provide all of our guests with drinking water in a Carafe.

But many people around the world don’t have that luxury. Every day, 5,000 kids die from water-related illnesses before they reach their fifth birthday. But it doesn’t have to be that way. There are simple solutions like drilled wells, spring protections and BioSand filters that help provide clean water to communities around the world.

Why is bottled water a concern? Here are just a few reasons…

· Less than one percent of the water on our planet is both accessible and potable

· Three liters of water is required to produce one liter of bottled water

· It takes 2,000 times more energy to produce a bottle of water than it does to produce tap water.

· Production requires roughly 17 million barrels of oil every year,

· Transportation accounts for about 25% of a bottle in fuel

· In 2008, the U.S. used enough plastic water bottles to stretch around the Earth more than 190 times.

Many restaurants charge for water, some as much as THB 200 for 50 cl bottle. To recognize the importance of water we started a campaign with charity: water - http://my.charitywater.org/no-to-bottled-water to raise THB 150,000 to bring clean drinking water to communities around the world.

Please donate to our campaign -- anything you can give is a huge help.

100% of the money will be used to build clean water projects, and when they’re complete, charity: water will send us photos and GPS coordinates so we can see the exact community we helped.
