Dear Friend,

Christmas is my favorite time of the year. It's a time of preparation and celebration as we remember God's incarnation in the person of Christ. I also look forward to it because it's time for family, friends, and food! I truly love Christmas. Christmas is also a time, however, when our materialistic impulses have the tendency to override our compassion and care of others.

I have struggled with this for years. Every year I say, "I'm not going to spend all my money on gifts. This year will be different. This year I'm going to give and share my abundance with those who truly need it." And every year I fail to live up to those expectations.

Well, this year I've decided to put an end to that. I've decided that this year, I would like for my family and friends to join me in bringing clean water to the people of Cambodia by donating a portion of their Christmas spending.

I know it seems like everywhere you turn somebody is asking you for money and trying to convict you into giving. That's the last thing I want to do. Instead, I want to simply invite you to consider how your giving to this campaign will provide a gift that will last for people who truly need it. The money you donate will go directly to the people of Cambodia, and if you're wondering whether or not it actually benefits them, Charity:Water provides a report on how your giving actually impacts and changes the lives of those who do not have access to clean water.
