748 million ppl without access to clean water. 1 400 kids die daily from water related disease. Let's change that!!

It's my 33rd birthday (GASP!!) and my 3rd charity:water birthday campaign (WOO HOO!!). I'm grateful for every year and every day and every moment though, no matter the number of candles on my cake and I'm just so thankful to be healthy and happy and so I want to share that health and happiness and make my birthday count in the most meaningful way possible...

Did you know that almost a billion people on the planet don't have access to clean drinking water? It's hard to believe when water is so easily accessible here in Canada but sadly it's true and astonishingly every single day, 1,400 kids die from water-related illnesses before they reach their fifth birthday. Think about that; that's like 2 schools in Durham being wiped out every single day, simply because the kids didn't have clean water to drink. But it doesn't have to be that way!! There are simple solutions like drilled wells, spring protections and BioSand filters that help provide clean water to communities around the world.

I'm asking for my age in dollars from everyone I know. Every penny of the money raised will directly fund clean water projects in developing countries through charity:water. Even better, charity: water will show us exactly which projects we funded once they've been fully completed (which takes about 21 months). That means we'll know the locations and names of the communities we helped.

Together, in 2013 through my 1st Make it Count birthday campaign we raised $926 that brought clean drinking water to communities in Nepal. In 2014 for Make it Count, together we raised $1027 and soon we will have a report with pictures and gps coordinates and other details about who, where and how that money was used to provide clean drinking water to those in need.
