On May 21st, I'm turning 34.

At a recent customer event held by my employer Responsys, we had the privilege of listening to Scott Harrison from Charity Water speak. We found out that millions of people don't live to see their fifth birthdays. And why? Because they don't have access to clean, safe water.

Instead of gifts, I'm asking for $34 or more from all those close to me -- and every penny of the money raised will go directly to fund clean water projects in developing nations. Even better, charity: water will show us exactly which projects we funded once they've been fully completed (which takes about 18 months). That means we'll be able to see the communities we've helped!

My goal is to raise at least $1,000 by my birthday, May 21st.

As an added incentive, most of you have consistently asked to see pictures of your bald friend with hair. Instead of pics, which will not be shared, I'll offer something even worse, a glimpse into seeing these ruins. For every $250 raised, I will not shave my head for a week. For example, for $1,000 raised, I won't shave my head for 4 consecutive weeks.
