How would you manage if every day you had to walk 6km to collect about 20kg of dirty swamp water to live on?

Approximately 771million people are relying on exactly that... in some countries women and girls walk 7 or more hours a day to collect water which itself can be the cause of so many illnesses, however, they have no choice as it is the only water available.

Every year more children die from waterbourne diseases, than people die in armed conflicts...

It is so unnecessary - there is usually a solution for every area which needs clean water.

Why water? It is such an enabler - over 200 Million hours PER DAY are spent collecting water - imagine if that time can be spent on education, entrepreneurship and so many other ways which would improve the quality of living for so many. It is estimared that for every £ spent on providing clean water, between £4 and £8 of economic value is returned, helping lift whole regions living standards.

Having lived on a narrowboat for 2 years, I appreciate how vital it is to have access to clean water - any boater will tell you - water, toilet and electric are vital things to living and they are available at varying levels of difficulty, from walking a few meters to a few miles to fill up a can, to moving your boat and filling it up... taking hours of time to get to the right place to turn around and get back again... a huge enabler is a water filtration system so you can create drinkable water straight from the canal/river... not so different to these unwatered communities.

The goal is to do this at an average of 6km per day - which makes a finish date of 14th December 2026 - my goal is to complete the fundraising and distance long before that though as the people who need the water can't wait.
