Belize is just one of the many developing countries that do not have access to clean drinking water. In Africa alone 400 billion hours are spent walking vast distances to the nearest water source. Women and children are often the ones left with this burden. The hundreds of thousands of miles they walk each year exposes them to sickness, harassment, and sexual assault. Hours that could be spent earning an actual living to support their families or attending school to improve upon a better future .

For those of you who may or may not know me, I've been working in the water industry going on 5 proud years w/ GSE. My company and I play a small part in providing clean water; treating water after use, for reuse and/or before it goes back into the great big blue :o)

This year all I want for my birthday to provide clean water for the 1 in 8 in the world that does not have access to clean drinking water like us lucky 1st world-ers. My goal is to raise $5,000 by my birthday to build a water well in a developing nation through charity: water.
