Why Emily is fundraising for clean water

Thank you for supporting our Walks for Water since 2012. Since 2006, Charity:Water has brought water for life to nearly 20.3 million people and counting. Our local walks for water have contributed to bringing clean water for life to more than 827 people in 15 countries since 2012:: Look here for many pictures of THE ACTUAL PEOPLE who are grateful for your support. I get emotional when I see their faces: https://columbiapsychology.com/index.php/charity-water/

It costs an average of $40 to bring clean water to one person. That includes funding for sanitation, hygiene training, and maintenance-so for every $40 donated, that person has clean water for life!

Please join us at 10 a.m. on October 4th for our 13th annual Walk for Water in Columbia, MO. This year you have the option of walking with us 2 miles, 6.2 miles, or 12.6 miles!

This year we are walking 12.6 miles on the beautiful MKT and Katy Trail. We meet at the Forum entrance of the MKT trail and end at Cooper’s Landing. That's 12.6 miles of simulating what HUNDREDS OF MILLIONS of women and children do each and everyday-without clean water!

Also, walking 6.2 miles is an option-we start at the same place and you can leave a car at McBaine (site of the Big Tree). Still another option is to walk 2 miles on the MKT with us at the beginning, and leave a car at Scott Blvd.

If you cannot walk this year, you can help by donating and/or sharing this link with everyone you know: https://www.charitywater.org/emily-crawford-1/walk-for-water-2025

When I was in Haiti, I learned that most residents who lack clean water are sick an average of once a week. The gift of clean water is truly life-saving, and the look of gratitude in their faces is forever in my mind.

If you are walking, please try to contribute to the cause by sharing this donation link with your friends and family. Even if you cannot walk this year, please share with those who share our mission to bring clean water to all. https://www.charitywater.org/emily-crawford-1/walk-for-water-2025

Walkers please also RSVP at Facebook Walk for Water 2025 Columbia Missouri, or email Emily at emily@columbiapsychology.com

Charity Water is a trusted 4-star charity on Charity Navigator. Charity Water finds the best sustainable solution (e.g. wells, piped systems, biosand filters, etc.) at each location, coordinates sanitation and hygiene training, and establishes a local Water Committee so that residents have clean drinking water for life. 100% of public donations are sent to local partners on the ground, who build and implement the projects. When the projects are completed, charity: water proves every one of them using GPS coordinates, photos and details of the community served.

The Problem: 1 in 10 people lack access to clean water. Hundreds of millions of women and children are walking for miles every day to gather water that is not even clean. Some of them are even raped or otherwise attacked on their walks. Children cannot attend school due to all the time spent gathering water, as well as the time (hopefully) recovering from the water-borne illnesses. Every day, children die from diseases caused by unsafe water and poor sanitation.

But I believe that we will live to see the day when everyone has access to clean water. Please help make this dream come alive.

With joy you will draw water
from the wells of salvation. -Isaiah 12:3
