Our girls soccer program at EHS desires to play for a higher purpose than winning. One way we are doing this is by setting up a campaign with Charity: Water from 1/23 - 1/30.

Many of us have no idea what it's like to be thirsty. We have plenty of water to drink -- even the water in our toilets is clean! But many people around the world don’t have that luxury. Every day, about 1,400 children die from diseases caused by unsafe water and poor sanitation. But it doesn’t have to be that way. There are simple solutions like drilled wells, spring protections and BioSand filters that help provide clean water to communities around the world. We want to help charity: water build these types of projects around the world.

We chose this cause and organization because it resonates with us as athletes, women, and students.

As athletes - water and hydration are crucial to performance

As women - women are disproportionately affected by the water crisis, as they are often responsible for collecting water. This takes time away from work, school and caring for family. The lack of water and sanitation locks women in a cycle of poverty. Empowering women is critical to solving the water crisis.

As students - Reductions in time spent collecting water have been found to increase school attendance, especially for girls. Access to safe water gives children time for school & play and opportunity for a bright future.

So, we are asking you to join us! There are a number of ways you can do so:

1.Pledge to support our technical goals during the JV game on 1/28 or Varsity on 1/29:
*Reward our JV team with any monetary donation for each goal scored
*Reward our Varsity team with any monetary donation for every 50 passes made

2.Donations

100% of the money will be used to build clean water projects, and when they’re complete, charity: water will send us photos and GPS coordinates so we can see the exact community we helped.
