During 2016, IPG made a commitment to support UN Sustainable Development Goal #6, Access to Water and Sanitation for all. Around the world, there are 663 million people who don’t have access to life’s most basic need – water, and billions more who don’t have access to proper sanitation.

When people don’t have access to clean water, they instead drink disease-filled water. They don’t have a choice. And they walk for it every single day. Mostly, the job falls to women and children, who might walk up to four hours a day to collect dirty water. That’s time they can’t spend caring for their families, earning income, or learning in school.

When a community gets clean water, everything can change. It can improve health, decrease medical expenses, increase equality, give girls more time in school, and give women the chance to grow food or earn income. Access to clean water can also drive peace in conflict-ridden areas.
And that is why, on Giving Tuesday, the unofficial beginning of the holiday giving season, IPG has decided to make a donation to charity: water, a nonprofit organization working to end the water crisis in our lifetime.

IPG’s donation will fully fund a drilled well for an entire community in Tigray, Ethiopia, a place where about 70% of the population currently lacks access to clean water. The community is heavily involved in the construction process, which instills a strong sense of ownership over these projects.
